Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence (CLIDE) AwardsCLIDE Time is Here Again!

Preparation is underway for the 2009 Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence (CLIDE) Awards Program. If you are a visionary developer, planner, engineer, architect, builder, or other person involved with one of the many exciting sustainable development projects and programs located in the 16-county North Texas region, we invite you to share your good work and be recognized! The 2009 CLIDE Awards Call for Applications will be posted online at www.developmentexcellence.com on or before January 19, 2009.

By the year 2030, North Central Texas is expected to be home to more than 9 million people. That is the equivalent of adding three new cities the size of Dallas to the area between 2000 and 2030. While this growth will bring new economic and cultural opportunities, it will also bring new challenges. We must effectively manage growth-related impacts on our air, water, transportation systems, and built and natural environments, in order to maintain our region's quality of life.

The CLIDE Awards Program was created in 2003 to encourage innovative development projects and practices that will help accommodate this expected growth and ensure a Sustainable North Texas for generations to come. CLIDE does this by recognizing private and public development programs and projects that exemplify the region's Ten Principles of Development Excellence.

In 2003, 2005, and 2007, the Center of Development Excellence invited local developers, builders, designers, cities, counties, special districts, media organizations/individuals and others based in the 16-county North Central Texas region to submit online applications for the CLIDE Awards program. During each cycle, a distinguished panel of experts reviewed all applicants and selected only those that met the highest standards as CLIDE recipients.
